Hello! My name is Ms. Cook, and I have taught for Norton City Schools since the Spring Semester of the 1995 school year when I completed my student teaching at the University of Akron. Beginning in January of 1995, I student taught in a first-grade classroom at Norton Primary School. In March of that same year, I continued my student teaching in a fourth-grade classroom at Norton Intermediate School.
After graduating with my BS in Elementary Education from the University of Akron, I worked as a substitute teacher for one year (mostly in Norton) before being hired full-time to teach at Norton Middle School for the 1996-1997 school year. For 15 years in total, I taught grades 5-8, teaching math, science, social studies, and language arts. During that time, I received my MA in Curriculum and Instruction from Nova Southeastern University.
Then, I moved to Norton Cornerstone Elementary and eventually Norton Elementary School where I taught Title I reading for the past 13 years. In all, I have taught in every building in our district except for Grill and Norton High School! Wow!
