Having an understanding of Science is crucial if you are to be able to come to develop an informed opinion on issues that may affect you in the future. Obvious examples include the threat of global warming, the ethical arguments surrounding genetics and the development of alternative fuels.

Chemistry - Atomic structure, the periodic table, bonding of matter, quantitative chemistry, energy changes, rates of reactions, organic chemistry, chemical analysis, atmosphere and resources
Physics - Forces, energy, waves, electricity, magnetism and electromagnetism, particle model of matter, atomic structure
GCSE Science is suitable for all students. At foundation level, it aims to provide a basic understanding of scientific concepts. At higher level, it is intended to prepare students for further study of a variety of science courses.

Good science GCSE’s will help you get on to various scientific A-level courses (including Physics, Chemistry and Biology A-levels). It is a standard requirement for BTEC Applied Sciences at A-level and has become increasingly more desirable for access to good apprenticeship schemes.
