How will this subject benefit me?

This course aims to assist students in developing an enquiring, critical and reflective approach to their studies and their lives. Whilst this will compliment broader PSHE discussions in tutor time, it also aims to enhance their spiritual and moral development and their personal, social and cultural development. Finally, the course enables them to reflect on and develop their own values, opinions and attitudes in light of their learning.

What opportunities will this give me?

Students will be given the opportunity to reflect on their own experiences and come to understand how they are developing personally and socially, tackling many of the social, moral and cultural issues that are part of growing up. They also find out about the main political and social institutions affecting their lives, and about their responsibilities, rights and duties as individuals and members of society.

They learn to understand and respect our common humanity and appreciate diversity and difference, so that they can go on to form effective, fulfilling relationships. Students could go on to study many of the PSHE topics for the Extended Project at A Level.
