How will this subject benefit me?

Learners will develop Media knowledge and skills in a practical learning environment. The focus is on three areas of equal importance: knowledge that underpins the effective use of production processes and techniques; development of key skills for investigating and developing ideas through pre-production, production and post production of media products; processes of  working in creative media production including team-working, organisation and problem solving.

Who is this course appropriate for?

The course is suitable for all students with an interest in media production. Creative students with an interest in TV, Film, or Radio, will find their background knowledge useful in getting the best out of the course.

How will I be assessed? 

Component 1 

Component 1 comprises two written pieces of coursework where students will research products and analyse the purposes, audiences and creative techniques of Media products.  

Component 2  

Component 2 comprises a skills portfolio where students create video and audio products and evaluate their production skills.

Component 3: 

Component 3 is the exam unit where students use their research, planning and production skills to create a media product in response to a non-fictional brief that they are set.

What opportunities will this give me?

Students can progress to further study, training or employment and will be able to make informed choices about making a career in the creative media sector. They can also access Creative Media Production in the Sixth Form.
