This subject is designed to encourage pupils to be able to design and make products with creativity and originality, using a range of materials and techniques. Pupils will be enthused and challenged by the range of design and practical activities over the two years working with a variety of woods, metals, plastics and composite materials. In Product Design pupils would be expected to know core knowledge of all materials across the technology subjects and then specialise in one for their coursework and exam

This course is suitable for those who will enjoy working through the design process to produce an A3 15 page folder of research, designing, development, testing, CAD drawings, planning, testing and evaluating their product. It will involve designing and developing designs based on challenges, then modelling and testing their ideas using a variety of materials to a high standard.
Pupils will be given a contextual challenge from the exam board.
35 hours to design, develop, model and make a product based on the context.

To go onto a BTEC in Art and Design in the Sixth Form. This course also allows students to explore their graphical and practical skills both formally & creatively. It will prepare students for creative careers including any type of graphic design, 3D Product design, architecture, furniture makers, engineering, and carpentry.
