I was born and raised in Monticello, New York. After graduating high school, I went to SUNY Cortland, where I graduated with a degree in English, and I did my post-graduate work in education at SUNY New Paltz. Soon after, I moved to New England, where I married my husband and eventually gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. We currently reside in Norton with our cats Jack and Monti, our adorable beagle mix Hollie, and our beautiful golden retriever Millie.
Our daughter, a NHS Class of 2021 graduate, has left the nest to pursue her dreams at SUNY Brockport, in upstate New York, so things are, sadly, a little bit more quiet at home; but we couldn't be more proud of her! We have had the pleasure of watching her cheer and dance (at AIM) her way through Norton; now we are excited to watch her transition from a Lancer to a Golden Eagle.
When not in school, I love to read, I love to mow my lawn (Yes it's true...it's great exercise!), I love to take pictures and create videos, I love to go shopping with my daughter, I love to talk (I will chat with anyone who will listen), and I love just spending time with my family. Whenever given the opportunity, I find myself making the five hour drive home to the Catskills in New York State, where I grew up, to spend time with my family and friends.
Having lived in Massachusetts for over twenty years, I have become a die-hard Patriots fan and Bruins fan...to the dismay of my NY friends. In addition, my husband, daughter, and I have "converted" my New York family-they can often be heard cheering for the Pats throughout the season! Sadly, I still have yet to find pizza, subs, or bagels that are comparable to NY (you will probably only understand this if you are a born and bred New Yorker). I guess you can take the girl out of NY, but can't take NY out of the girl. BTW: if you ever pass through Monticello, please pick me up a Godfather sub and some Bagel Bakery bagels. :)
This year is my 23rd year teaching English at the NMS! It is my second home, and the faculty and staff in the building are family to me; their friendships are precious and valued. I absolutely love working with, and teaching, middle school students! I think perhaps it is because they allow me to be myself, which is often silly and loud, yet they understand when it is time to be serious and focus on the task at hand. I always tell my students on the first day that they must enter my class with a pen and/or pencil, their English binder, a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and of course, with a sense of humor. I love to see my students smile, and I want them to understand that learning can be fun. I also adore my 7 White colleagues! We have so much fun with our students, and we enjoy each other! We have a great rapport and truly enjoy working with one another. I am fortunate to have such an amazing group of educators to work with! I could not see myself anywhere else!
It is a pleasure to work with the children here in Norton. I have watched them grow over the years; literally thousands of Norton kids have passed through my class, and they will forever hold a permanent place in my heart! I love each and every one!
GO LANCERS!
