Tuning your Ukulele

A little more in depth instruction on how to tune your ukulele

How to tune the ukulele

There are 4 strings on a ukulele. Each string has a specific note it is tuned to. The top string is the note "G". The second string is the note "C". The third string is the note "E." The fourth string is the note "A".

If the note sounds too LOW then you need to TIGHTEN the string on the tuning peg.

If the note sounds too HIGH then you need to LOOSEN the string on the tuning peg.

Follow the string up the fretboard to see which tuning peg belongs with each string.

There are FREE tuning apps for tablets and phones that will tell you exactly which note you are playing and if it is sharp (too high) or flat (too low). If your strings are not in tune and playing the right note then your chords will not sound correct.
