Hello and welcome to 5th grade! I hope you have had a wonderful summer break! It is good to be coming back to school... I am looking forward to seeing all of you! I also enjoy working with the other 5th grade teachers.

This year, I will be starting my 32nd year of teaching. My first year was in 6th grade in Clear Fork Local Schools at Bellville Elementary. I will be starting my 5th year of teaching social studies. I had previously taught mathematics for 25 years (the first 4 of those 25 years was in 6th grade).

In social studies this year, you will learn the location of all the countries in the Western Hemisphere. This talent will allow you to better understand the locations that explorers claimed for their country and where the first settlements of the United States were established. You will also be keeping a journal to document your days during your fifth grade year and learn how to use a spreadsheet to make a timeline of historical events.

I consider it a privilege to be one of your teachers this year! Let's make it a great one by being safe, making good decisions and working hard.
