The 2026 interest form is OPEN
Who can join North Wave?
Any instrumentalist ages 14-23 can participate in North Wave Winds. All members 18+ and all staff must pass a background check and complete online training with WGI. North Wave Performing Arts is committed to participant safety and positive educational experiences. We uphold the highest standards of honesty, and any form of misconduct, dishonesty, or foul play will not be tolerated.
How much does it cost?
Due to our volunteer staff and gracious donations from various organizations and individuals, we are able to keep membership dues one of the lowest across the state while still providing a top-notch experience. Membership tuition for the 2026 season is $250 with scholarships available. This tuition covers competition fees, insurance, music/drill writing fees, equipment, and more.
NWPA hopes to increase accessibility and break barriers to this activity. If cost is an issue, please reach out to matthew@northwaveperformingarts.org to discuss a solution to participate in the ensemble.
Due to our developing relationship with the Lansing School District, all LSD students participate at no cost. We are blessed to have the opportunity to use their facility space and support our mission of accessibility in the marching arts.
What does the time commitment look like?
North Wave Winds rehearses twice weekly in the evenings and one Saturday a month starting in December/January. There will be occasional Friday evening rehearsals before Saturday competitions. We understand that there will inevitably be conflicts. Participants are expected to communicate all absences with the directors and maintain performance readiness at home.
