Children's therapy can be an effective way to manage mental health, whether your child is "in crisis" or just needs a little extra help handling big feelings. Just as you would with any medical diagnosis, the key is to find the kind of therapy that will a make a difference in your child's quality of life. But with so many different types of therapy from which to choose, how do you know what is right for your child? CBT, DBT, ERP, EMDR, ACT, PCIT can seem like an alphabet soup of therapy approaches. Throw in play, family, behavior, and psychodynamic therapy and it could leave a parent/caregiver overwhelmed and confused about which approach will be most helpful. In this session, mental health clinicians will explore the different types of approaches used in therapy so that parents/caregivers can make informed decisions how best to support their child’s specific mental health needs.
