The Slush-Cycler
Saamaja Krishnan, 8th Grade & Sujana Krishnan,
6th Grade - Meads Mill
Did you know that 100% of the snow used in the Bejing 2022 Winter Olympics was artificial? This is 400 olympic size swimming pools worth of water. With such an enormous amount of water being used for artificial snow for ski resorts and other winter sporting venues, it is important to address the problems caused by this. Primarily, the depletion of natural water sources which otherwise is used for drinking and farming. To reduce the negative impact of artificial snow, we created the Slush-Cycler. The Slush-Cycler "recycles" artificial snow runoff annually to avoid tapping into fresh water sources frequently to create artificial snow. To find out more view our slideshow and video.
