Summer Math & ELA Challenge: Preschool - Fourth Grade
Dear Bear Families,
We’re excited to share a fun and flexible way for students to keep their Math and ELA skills sharp over the summer! ☀️🐻 Our Summer Math & ELA website includes engaging, hands-on activities aligned to Ohio Learning Standards.
The Cuyahoga County Public Library (CCPL) will be hosting their Summer Reading Challenge June 1 - July 31st. We’ve included that link, along with other helpful resources, below.
How It Works:
Choose Your Challenges :
Activities are organized by grade level and are hands-on, creative, and designed to reinforce important skills.
Students should complete the number of activities suggested for their grade level—but can always do more if they’d like! You’ll also find the CCPL Summer Reading Challenge and additional ELA resources linked on the site.
Submit the Google Form :
Once activities are completed, a parent/guardian can fill out this quick Google Form
Once Google Form is Submited, you can earn:
🍦 An ice cream treat from one of our community partners like Dairy Queen, Mr. Divot’s, Applebee’s, Shake Shoppe, and more!
📣 A special shout-out and appearance on the morning announcements with your favorite principals!
Celebrate Success :
Let your child choose activities—this builds ownership and excitement
Set aside a little time each week (even 10–15 minutes helps!)
Talk about math in everyday life—cooking, shopping, building, and games all count:)
Research on the “Summer Slide” shows that practicing academic skills just 2–3 hours per week over the summer can help prevent learning loss and keep students growing. - Johns Hopkins University for Summer Learning
