The 2020 Caldecott Winner. This book is heavy. It is educational. At times the images and words are hard to see and hear, but oh my goodness, the words and illustrations are beautiful!

This book is for everyone. This book is for everyone to honor black history; for everyone to recognize our troubling past and present, but also to celebrate the accomplishments of the people in the United States who are black.

By far, this is Ms. V's favorite book published in the past couple of years. You've probably heard her read it to you! This is a podcast series from Julie Andrews (originally Mary Poppins) and her daughter Emma Walton Hamilton.

This podcast encompasses everything wonderful about this book - the smells, the importance of sharing and community, Oge's culture, the fantastic collage illustrations in her book, and finally our favorite words!
