Renting and Purchasing
Instrument Rentals
Your child needs an instrument to participate in Orchestra! We do provide large instruments (Cello/Bass) with a school instrument to use, however, we have limited numbers of Violins and Violas for student use. Please make sure your child is successful by looking into renting an instrument from a reputable source!
Our school district is fortunate to be serviced by National Education Music Company (NEMC). This the company from which the majority of our students rent their instruments. A representative from these companies comes to our school once each week to pick up instruments that need to be repaired, or to bring new rentals or larger instruments.
Our representative for NEMC comes every Friday and will deliver instruments and pick up repairs then.
We also encourage going to Rockland Music Center in Nanuet, NY if you'd like to pick up the instrument in person!
Listed below are a number of other options from which parents may choose to rent or buy their child an instrument. If you have any questions about purchasing an instrument, please ask your teacher first!
Purchasing an Instrument
The availability of very cheaply built instruments has increased due to the Internet and superstore availability. Please avoid the purchase of these instruments. Please AVOID all painted instruments (colorful) as they are cheaply built and they make the difficult job of learning to play an instrument even more challenging. There are also many accounts of instruments being delivered broken.
A high quality, name brand instrument will serve your child much better and allow them to have as much success as possible on the instrument. Please consult with us before buying an instrument from any source other than the above-named vendors.

Please make sure when purchasing an instrument that it comes with a case and bow. This is usually referred to in the industry as an "outfit".
