Northmont High School has a Student Assistance Program that can help teens with issues that get in the way of their ability to focus in class. It is not a replacement for professional counseling, but rather a source of support for teens who may be struggling, and for parents who may need some guidance. Students who agree to be seen are scheduled with a counselor/social worker during the school day. It is short-term supportive non-therapeutic counseling. It is an optional short-term offer of support with no commitment. All services are free of charge to students in the high school.

Hi! I enjoy working with teens who are struggling with some issue in their life. As the mother of 5, I know it has been important for my children to have someone to talk who is not emotionally connected to them, like family is. Amanda or I can be that person for students in our building. The issue is not always some major mental health crisis, but most are problems that we don't want to get bigger. Problems that can keep a student from being able to focus in class. That is where talking to someone and feeling heard and supported can help. That is why the Student Assistance Program is here.
Hello Everyone! I am extremely passionate about working with teens who are struggling with daily stressors that just get in the way of them living their best life. My goal is to eliminate stigmas around mental health and make sure we are serving the whole child here at NHS. By being a person that students can confide in, my hope is to prevent students from letting their problems spiral out of control and help them refocus their attention on reaching their utmost potential. As I always say, the sky is the limit.
