Can I change the team my student is placed on?
Teams are randomly chosen for students and cannot be changed. Please see our program of studies to see all scheduling policies.
My student is missing a class on their schedule, what do we do?
Please inform your student's counselor as soon as possible if a class is missing. Sometimes there are errors with the scheduling system and the faster we can get the student's schedule corrected the better. The fastest way to connect your student's counselor about a missing class is through email.
If you notice that a class is missing from your student's schedule, please contact your student's counselor as soon as possible. Errors in the scheduling system can occur, and addressing we want to address them promptly. The most efficient way to reach the counselor is via email.
Why is my student placed in a block class or lab?
At our middle school, a team of staff members meets monthly to review student data, including scores from FastBridge and OSTs. This team uses the data to identify students who may need additional support in ELA or Math. Block classes or labs are designed to provide extra help and ensure students are well-prepared to earn all their credits while in high school.
When does my 8th grade student make their 9th grade schedule?
The counseling team will introduce the scheduling process to 8th graders in mid-February. In early March, they will assist students in entering their 9th grade course requests. After the schedule request process is complete, schedule cards will be sent home for family review. Students will have until the end of the school year to make any adjustments to their high school course requests.
My student is failing a class, now what?
If your student is failing a class, here's what you can do:
Contact the Teacher: Reach out to your student's teacher(s) for detailed information and guidance. You can find their email addresses through the Staff Directory link below.
Schedule a Meeting: Arrange a meeting with the teacher(s) during their team planning time. You can do this by calling the school or emailing the teachers directly.
Check for Notifications: Please check Progressbook often to monitor your student's progress. The school counselors will send home letters each quarter if your student has earned an F in any of their core classes.
Feel free to take these steps to get more information and support.
Where can I find information about my student's classes?

Can my student obtain a work permit?
Yes, your student can visit the Counseling Center to obtain a work permit form. This form needs to be completed by the parent or guardian, the employer, and the student’s physician. Once all sections are filled out, your student should take the completed form to the main office of the high school. Mrs. Hamlin will then process the form and issue the actual work permit.
What if my student is going to miss the last few days of school? Can they take their final exams early?
We strongly encourage students to be present for the last few days of school. If your student will miss these days, please contact their counselor to reschedule their final exams. Exams cannot be taken early to maintain their integrity. You will be able to schedule a makeup date for the final exams after school is out for the summer. If the exam is not made up, your student will receive an F for the final exam on their report card.
How does my student become a teacher's aide?
If a student wants to be a teacher's aide during their study hall period, that teacher just needs to let study hall and Mrs. Henning (in the front office) know for attendance purposes. You are all set after that!
