About Me

Hello! My name is Lanette Kudis and I am so excited to be your child's third grade literacy and social studies teacher!  North Lake School is a very special place, one that I am grateful to be a part of. Over the years, I have had the privilege to work with general and special education students in grades 3-8 both as a teacher and as an instructional assistant!  I am very familiar with the community as well. I have lived here all my life. In fact, I am an Arrowhead High School graduate! I went on to earn my BS degree (sociology/organizational development) from UW-Madison and then my elementary education teaching license (grades 1-9) through UW-Whitewater.  I later became a Certified Academic Language Practitioner through ALTA, a Structured Literacy/Dyslexia Interventionist through CERI, and an Orton-Gillingham Scholar with the Children's Dyslexia Centers.  As you can probably tell, literacy is my passion, however my love for history and traveling makes my current position as an ELA and SS teacher here at North Lake School a perfect fit!

When I am not at school, you will probably see me walking miles and miles around Oconomowoc with my golden retriever, Tango.  I also enjoy most all water activities, biking, reading, spending time with my family, and dining at the many restaurants around town. We are all so fortunate to live in such a wonderful area that has so many things to offer!

Coming from second grade, the third graders at North Lake School will be switching from a single teacher/self contained classroom to one that will be split ELA/SS and Math/Science for the first time.  They will experience their first standardized tests, will move beyond "learning to read" and will begin "reading to learn" for both information and pleasure.  In addition to the many academic milestones they will encounter, you will also see many social and emotional changes!  Third graders are GREAT!  Please know that I view our relationship as a partnership, so please feel free to contact me with both joys and concerns. I am honored to share my day with your child! It is going to be a WONDERFUL year!!
