Leave of absence during term time
You may have seen in the news that from 19th August 2024 the government has updated the rules on school attendance, which means that every school in the country will follow the same national framework.
Penalty Notices are issued by the local council for unauthorised absences from school, and from September 2024 the cost is increasing to £80 per parent, per child, if paid within 21 days rising to £160 if not paid within 21 days.
If a parent or carer receives a second penalty notice within three years, the second will be charged at a flat rate of £160 per parent, per child.
In the case of a third offence within three years, prosecution will be considered.
Headteachers and Principals are not able to authorise any leave of absence during term time, except for in exceptional circumstances.
Attendance Challenge
If you have attendance below 96% then we will support you by implementing the attendance challenge. The chiildren will be given a reward chart for 2 weeks. If they can come into school evey day in this period they will receive a prize.
