"Being part of ShowQuest gave me confidence, purpose, and a creative family." – Year 12 student
ShowQuest is one of the most exciting highlights of the Performing Arts calendar at Northcote College.
It’s a nationwide performing arts competition that challenges students to create a fully student-driven performance combining dance, drama, music, costume, and digital art.
At Northcote, ShowQuest is more than just a show, it's a celebration of student voice, creativity, and collaboration.
Our team of performers, choreographers, tech crew, costume designers, and musicians work together to bring a powerful story to life on stage.
Each year, our entry is entirely original, showcasing themes that matter to our students and our community. It’s a space where leadership shines, friendships grow, and the stage becomes a platform for bold expression.
Showquest is Aotearoa's biggest performing arts competition. Nationwide schools devise original performances to showcase Dance, Drama, Music and Technology.

Ngā Toi Whakaari o Onewa's performance for 2022 was titled Reminiscent Reclining. The performance champions the power of memory.
Synopsis: When the elderly residents of a retirement village are forced into isolation amidst Aotearoa's Covid-19 Lockdown, they find themselves alone and disconnected. The kindness of a nurse, a true frontline hero, allows the residents to recount their most treasured memories. They each have a taonga which unlocks their memory and enables them to slip, briefly, into their past. The act or reminiscing allows them a little much needed escape. Their past nurtures their present. This is a celebration of memory and the importance of connection.
