COVID-19 Vaccinations in Blanco County

Distribution of the COVID-19 Vaccine is managed by the State of Texas. Blanco County received it's initial shipment of the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine on January 5th, 2021 and immediately began vaccinations.

As of March 29, 2021, everyone age 18 and older is now eligible to receive the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine in Blanco County!

This 'mass-vaccination' site is the result of a collaborative effort between Blanco County, Blanco County ESD 1/North Blanco County EMS, Blanco County ESD 2, Blanco County Fire/EMS Auxiliary as well as countless medical professionals who are graciously volunteering their time to get Blanco County vaccinated!

While the COVID-19 vaccine is now open to all, the following groups will continue to receive prioritized access to the COVID-19 vaccine.

  • Phase 1A: Front-line healthcare workers and residents at long-term care facilities

  • Phase 1B: People 65+ or people 16+ with a health condition that increases risk of severe COVID‑19 illness

  • Phase 1C: People 50 to 64 years of age

  • Educators: People who work in pre-primary, primary, and secondary schools, as well as Head Start and Early Head Start programs (including teachers, staff, and bus drivers) and those who work as or for licensed child care providers, including center-based and family care providers

Booster Update (10/22/2021):

On October 20, 2021, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) made amendments to the Emergency Use Authorizations (EUA) for both Moderna and Johnson & Johnson/Janssen COVID-19 vaccines that expanded the use of a booster dose in eligible populations.

On October 21, 2021, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued booster recommendations for all three available COVID-19 vaccines in the United States. Eligible individuals may choose which vaccine they receive as a “mix-and-match” booster dose.

For individuals who received a Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, the following groups are eligible for a booster shot at 6 months or more after their primary series:

For individuals who received the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine, booster shots are also recommended for those who are 18 and older and who were vaccinated two or more months ago.

As has been the case throughout the COVID-19 vaccination effort, people may self-attest to having a health condition that qualifies them for a booster dose. It is recommended that people consult a healthcare provider if they have questions about their risks from COVID-19 and whether a booster dose would be beneficial for them.
