COVID19 Testing

Once your registration has been processed, you will be contacted by EMS to set up your appointment. Over 90% of testing registrations are scheduled SAME BUSINESS DAY.

The testing offered in Blanco County is a highly accurate molecular test, which is sent off every weekday via private aircraft to an accredited lab for analysis. Rapid Testing is also available for anyone who is currently symptomatic within the first 5 days of their symptoms. Please note that if you choose to have a rapid test performed, a molecular (PCR) test will be sent off to the lab as well.

These providers will ship your COVID-19 Test Kit to your home and include instructions on how to perform the test and send it back to their lab.

The majority of COVID-19 Testing Providers utilize the same major national laboratories, which only fly specimens to the labs on weekdays. Because of this, Blanco County only offers COVID-19 testing on weekdays, as any specimens collected on the weekend will sit in a refrigerator over the weekend, resulting in delays. Ultimately, this is a good thing, as it allows the laboratories (which work 7 days a week) an opportunity to clear out any backlog. If you register for COVID-19 Testing in Blanco County on the weekend, your registration will be processed and you will be tested on Monday.
