NORTH ANDOVER YOUTH CENTER ADDITION PROJECT
NORTH ANDOVER YOUTH CENTER ADDITION PROJECT
UPDATE: At the 2025 Town Meeting, $400K was approved for the Conceptual Design of the Youth Center Addition Project.
Project Overview
The North Andover Youth Center was built in July, 2000. Since then, the Center has grown tremendously, running programs and servicing over 3,000 youth per year. Our programs fall into the following categories: adventure, social/recreational, leadership, support services, and court-related services. The Center is geared toward middle school and high school aged youth. During the summer, a number of programs for elementary aged youth are run, mostly outdoors. Staff consists of six full-time employees as well as a host of part-time employees and volunteers.
In 2022, the Town of North Andover contracted with Mount Vernon Group to provide evaluation and preliminary design services for space needs associated with the school department, fire department and youth center. From the study, the Town developed Facilities Master Plan II. The addition/renovation of the Youth Center will be the fourth of eight projects in Facilities Master Plan II. The Facilities Master Plan II and related documents may be found at this link: https://sites.google.com/northandoverma.gov/fmp-2-0/home/
The expansion is currently being designed. the addition will be approximately 6,000 square feet, which would provide more rooms for multi-purpose activities, such as wellness/fitness, academic, arts & crafts, etc. Additional storage space will also be considered if space and budget allow.
