I found this by the Mill River this weekend when I was fishing! It was made with objects found by the river. Can you find things around your home that you can make something with?

A mirror with garland, ribbon, cardboard...so many things you can do to make art and send a message while distancing!

I found this on one of my walks on Mt. Tom. The sign says "Dear Humans,
We are rooting for you. Love, The Trees"

Today I was thinking about everyone who is at home at this time but I also thought about people who are at work who are helping to keep people healthy and safe. I wanted to show I care by making a collage to hang on my door to show that I am thinking of and appreciate all the people who are still having to go to work every day to help others during this time. I used scissors, colorful paper, markers, and a glue stick. I wrote notes of thanks and appreciation on top of the collage when I was finished. Maybe you could make a collage too! (In case you're wondering about the little dog at the bottom of the picture, that's Lester, named after Jon Lester, who used to play for the Boston Red Sox!

I discovered a path on Mount Sugarloaf that I had never taken before. Looking off into the distance, watching the river meander around the corner, it made me think of one of our 5th grade lessons on perspective. Notice how the river gets smaller the further away it goes toward the horizon?

I went for a walk and took some close-up pictures of these objects. Can you guess what they are? How are these objects from nature the same? How are they different?

Answer: Pine cones, moss, rock, tree bark How are they the same: They all have something called texture. They are different because they are different objects, have different textures, and are different colors.
