Wellness Curriculum

Below you will find the Wellness Department's Vision & Goals and Physical Education Curriculum for the 2019-2020 school year at Giles School. Dates, length of each unit/activity, and even the units are subject to change as determined by myself, Mr. Gapastione, and Ms. Stefanski.

**The 2017-18 school year brought many changes throughout the district. One exciting change for our department was the opportunity to enhance our curriculum by the creation of a cardiovascular fitness room. This specialized room hosted students as they gain cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, and flexibility in a variety of ways including participating in circuit stations, exercise programs, fitness challenges, and modeling workouts projected on the board. This exciting addition to our program was seen as a great success and will be continued with the students at Giles. Additionally, the purchase and use of heart rate monitors took place and has been implemented into our program. This is an amazing and effective tool that students enjoy utilizing to concretely display their effort, measure success, and challenge themselves!

At Leigh School, we put an emphasis on building locomotor skills, gaining non-locomotor movements, promoting positive social skills and interactions, ensuring safe play, introducing sport specific skills, and ENJOYING MOVEMENT!
