This course will help you strengthen your math skills and prepare for Algebra 1 and high school mathematics. Throughout the year, we will solve problems, explore patterns, think critically, and apply mathematics to real-world situations.
Success in math comes from effort, participation, and perseverance. Mistakes are an important part of learning, and our classroom will be a place where everyone is encouraged to ask questions and grow as mathematicians.
By the end of the year, students will be able to:
Work confidently with real numbers.
Simplify and evaluate algebraic expressions.
Solve equations and inequalities.
Understand and graph linear relationships.
Use functions to model real-world situations.
Apply exponent rules and scientific notation.
Use the Pythagorean Theorem to solve problems.
Find surface area and volume of geometric figures.
Analyze data and understand probability.
Prepare for success in Algebra 1.
These topics are based on the Norman Public Schools Pre-Algebra pacing guide and Oklahoma Academic Standards.

Learning is the priority in our classroom. Late work will be accepted throughout the grading period when students communicate with the teacher about the missing assignment and create a plan for completion.
Students are expected to:
Communicate before or as soon as possible after an assignment is due.
Take responsibility for completing missing work.
Attend tutorials or request help if needed.
Submit quality work that reflects their best effort.
Communication can be in person, through email, or through our classroom learning platform. Students who communicate proactively and demonstrate effort will have opportunities to make up missing work and earn credit for their learning.
Remember: Communication is key. If you are struggling, falling behind, or need extra time, let me know. We can work together to create a plan for success.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to stay involved in their student's learning.

Working together helps students achieve success.
Pre-Algebra is an important step toward Algebra 1 and future STEM opportunities. Students who come prepared, participate, and practice consistently will build the skills needed for success. I am excited to work with you this year and help you grow as a mathematician!
My goal is for every student to learn the math, not just meet a deadline. If you need extra time, communicate with me early so we can make a plan together.
