A Digital Breakout the same thing as a Breakout, where players work collaboratively to solve a series of critical thinking puzzles in order to open a locked box, but instead of using physical locks and physical clues, Google Forms, digital clues and digital locks are used.

Planning out your Digital Breakout is important to a successful breakout lesson in your classroom.

Here is an example of a planning page that can be helpful in organizing your content and lock ideas. You do NOT have access to edit this page. You will need to make a COPY in order to have your own planning page. Be sure to save it as something you will remember.
At this stage, you can also begin to brainstorm ideas a of how you will present your information on your Breakout Site. Will you be using Google Drawings, Google Sheets, other websites?
You can note what you might use for each lock/clue but be flexible with changes as you begin creating.

- Make sure each question that is a lock is required.
- Use Data Validation on each lock/question.
- Put in an error phrase in data validation ("TRY AGAIN", "STILL LOCKED").
- Remind students to use CAPITAL LETTERS when answering in the Google Form.
- Explain how to format the date lock.
- Explain color locks, directional locks, etc.
- Put the reward/certificate/surprise in the submission response message.
