Partners in Technology is a program established January 2018 by the Normal Public Library. It is funded through a grant from the American Library Association and Google's Libraries Ready to Code initiative.
Partners in Technology pairs children ages 10-14 years old with an adult mentor from the community with experience in a technology field or area of study. Partners meet at the library weekly for 1 hour sessions over the course of 8 weeks. Meeting times are chosen based on mentor and participant availability. During these sessions, partners explore coding, robotic, and circuitry/hardware concepts using a variety of free, open-source online and physical resources.
Partners in Technology is designed to help foster Computer Science and Computational Thinking skills while encouraging a love of learning and technology exploration. Sessions are led by participant interest and mentor expertise.
The Normal Public Library is looking for mentors to grow and expand the Partners in Technology Program in the future. If you are interested in mentoring, please contact Jane Jankowski for more information.
