Message from Mrs Young

Welcome back to all our families and staff and to our new look Newsletter! It has been a very difficult few months but we are hopeful that school will be able to remain open for the foreseeable future and that our safety measures are keeping our community safe and well. Thank you to everyone who has helped make this possible by contributing to or following our guidelines and procedures. The children all seem very happy to be back, as are our staff.

Fundraising Venture

Every day I am reminded how innovative and resourceful our Nonsuch pupils are! Abi in Year 5, has come up with thoughtful way of raising money both for the school and Cancer Research.

She has been using lockdown to create some beautiful ‘Family Lockdown’ drawings.

These have been created for many of her family and friends who were delighted to receive drawings of their family. ‘Many cried when I gave them to them’.

Abi has come up with the idea of using her skills to raise money for the school and Cancer Research. She will create a framed drawing of your family similar to the one in the picture (pets welcome to be included).

If you would like to take advantage of this thoughtful venture, please contact the school office via email with a picture of your family so that Abi will know who to include in the drawing. The drawing will show your family with their backs to the viewer as in the example shown. Abi has suggested a £10 donation which will be split equally between Nonsuch Primary and Cancer Research. Once your picture has been created, Abi will send it to you via school office. We are so touched by this wonderful gesture and hope you will be keen to have your family portrait created in this way.

Music Achievement

We are delighted to have been awarded the National Music Mark, awarded to schools who deliver high-quality musical and social outcomes for all children and young people. This is recognition of the high quality musical opportunities we provide for all our pupils. Many thanks to Mrs Thomas, our Music Leader, who was the driving force behind our application.

Sports News

Congratulations to Freddie Nareydoo (Y6) who reached the final selection round for the Sutton Borough Football Team. Freddie didn't quite make the team this time round but has been commended for his talent. Well done Freddie!

Charity Donation

We have signed up to the charity Business 2 Schools which provides free resources from companies who are relocating or refurbishing. Mr Wiggins and Mrs Young, recently went to an office block in Fleet Street who are relocating to fill a luton van with as much equipment as we could manage. Among other things we acquired new desks for the office, new teacher desks, teacher chairs, bookcases for classrooms, lamps, flip chart screens, plants and reems and reems of paper! We are very grateful to the charity and have saved hundreds of pounds through this initiative.

You may have seen an interview with members of the charity on Breakfast News on Sunday 20th September. They were asking for donations of old laptops to take to local schools so that they can be refurbished and provided to children who have difficulty accessing a device for school work. We realise this is an issue with so many parents still working form home and needing to use the family device.

If you have an old laptop that is of no use to you, please send it into school. We are able to convert the laptop into a chrome book which wipes all previous software and information. These can then be distributed to our pupils who are not able to access a device at home to complete home learning.
