Our Commitment To NV Students!

Nodaway Valley Schools are committed to meeting our students’ nutritional needs. Nodaway Valley Schools served a total of 37,146 breakfast meals and 83,834 lunch meals in the 2017-2018 school year. Healthy meals promote success in and outside the classroom.

Breakfast and lunch are available to every student in our district and our meals meet or exceed the USDA nutrition standard which require:

Nodaway Valley Schools offer the Offer Versus Serve food choices at both breakfast and lunch. At breakfast a student must take 3 out of the 4 offered food groups to be considered a reimbursable meal and one of those 3 must be ½ cup of fruit or 100% fruit juice. At lunch a student must take 3 out of the 5 offered food groups to be considered a reimbursable meal and one of those 3 must be ½ cup of fruit and/or vegetable (9th-12th grade 1 cup fruit and/or vegetable). Signs will be posted to help your student choose the correct components for their meal.

Start Your Day With Breakfast at School!

Mornings can be really crazy...the alarm doesn't go off...the kids don't want to get up...there's no time to eat breakfast before the bus comes...or they're just not ready to eat. Or maybe your teenager grabs a can of soda and a candy bar on the way to school. If this sounds like your house, we have good news for you.

Breakfast is served at school! School breakfast will give your child a healthy start to the day. A nutritious breakfast helps students be more alert so they can learn more in class. Breakfast has vitamins and nutrients for a strong and healthy body.

Breakfast at school is affordable, too. If you qualify for free and reduced price meals, you also qualify for the breakfast program, with no additional paperwork. You can't find a healthy breakfast at such a low cost anywhere else.

Help your child start the day right with school breakfast!
