Good morning!

Today's lesson goes back to Unit 6 - a review of World War I. It should take you about an hour to complete all the components, so it is the only lesson for this week.

We are also finishing up marking period 3 grades. Any classwork grade that is a 50 or lower has not been turned in to me. You can complete the work and submit it to me. If you scroll down to March 16, 2020, I posted the classwork assignments. I have create a place in our google classroom where you can turn them in. It is in the section title classwork. You are to only do these assignments if you have not already done them. If you have them complete, you do not have to redo them. You are also welcome to email me pictures of any work that you complete at home.

I hope that you are all well. I miss you!

Good morning!

I was so glad to see so many of you at our Zoom team meeting yesterday! We are planning another one for next week! We were lucky that Mrs. Weymouth-German and Mrs. Floyd could join us. Mrs. Floyd has created a Counselor's Corner. It has great tips and how to email and call Mrs. Floyd. We are all connected and the GMS teachers and staff are here for you. If the Zoom meeting doesn't work for you, please keep in touch using email or posting in Google Classroom.

It is supposed to be beautiful outside today! Go for a walk or ride your bike. My kids and I are going to be planning our garden and doing some outdoor preparations today. Share in Google Classroom or send me an email about the ways that you are keeping healthy. And stay tuned - the PE staff is looking to release some PE ideas in the next week!

Miss you!

Good morning!

Today's lesson is also about the Dust Bowl. It is a simulation using Mission US. Because of its length, it is considered two lesson. I will not be sending out new lessons until next week.

I hope everyone is well!

Good morning,

Attached is the Social Studies lesson for today (A Day students) or tomorrow (B Day students). It is an extension of the 1920s and 1930s unit that we were just finishing up. Today's lesson is about Eleanor Roosevelt and her role as First Lady during the Great Depression. The lesson is housed in a website called nearpod: www.nearpod.com and the class code is yrgdj.

If you do not have internet access, the lesson is to record current events. You can use a journal or a separate sheet of paper. Watch a news program or read the newspaper. What are the main headlines/stories? Write a 3 - 5 sentence summary of the news. Then write an additional 3 - 5 sentences of how at lease one of these stories is impacting your life.

I hope that everyone is well! Please continue to email me with any questions or concerns!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Wright

A Day

B Day

March 16, 2020 Good morning! I hope that everyone is safe and well. Starting today, I will be posting assignments here and in Google Classroom. Use the resource that works the best for you. To get started, I recommend that you check the grade book. If you have any zeros, please complete that work. If you do the work on separate paper, you can hold on to it until we return or you can take a picture of it and email it to me: kiersten.wright@nn.k12.va.us.

Student Accounts

Students’ usernames will be identical to their NNPS usernames – john.smith4, for example. Students’ passwords will be identical to their NNPS ID numbers. Neither teachers nor students should change students’ passwords in the Pearson system because they will be reset back to the students’ ID numbers each night regardless.

I would also suggest that you keep a journal over the next couple of weeks. The events that are happening now are unlike our regular routine. I suspect, people will be talking about the Covid-19 pandemic and our experience in the future. Some experiences over the next two weeks might be really positive, some might be challenging, not fun, or inconvenient. By keeping a journal, you are creating your own primary source. You might choose to keep your thoughts or experiences to yourself or someday in the future, you might use it to explain your experiences to family and friends. Here are some things you can write about: How has your routine changed? What do you like about this routine? What do you think about the changes - like school being cancelled for the next two weeks? If you don't want to write a traditional journal, you can choose to draw pictures, write poems, create a meme, write a song, create a dance/short performance, or you can choose something else.
