Asynchronous learning takes place when students engage in self-directed learning planned by the teacher. Asynchronous learning gives students control over the time and place of their learning. In NNPS, students complete their asynchronous learning in Canvas. 

Synchronous learning takes place when a teacher and students are engaged in learning together at the same time. This is when "live teaching" is happening, either in the classroom, online via Zoom, or through some other platform that allows you to communicate with students in real time.
