Asynchronous learning takes place when students engage in self-directed learning planned by the teacher. In NNPS, students complete their asynchronous learning in Canvas (2nd-12th) or Seesaw (K-1st).
Synchronous learning takes place when a teacher and students are engaged in learning together at the same time. In NNPS, students participate in live instruction using the Zoom platform.
For asynchronous learning days, students should use their NNPS issued device to complete assignments. Preschool students will not take home devices. They will complete printed learning packets instead.
Assignments are posted by 8:00 AM on the asynchronous learning day.
Students are marked present for an asynchronous day based on participation logs in Seesaw or Canvas.
Teachers will be available to assist families and students during a live, one-hour office hours via Zoom. The link will be posted in Canvas or Seesaw.
Students will follow their regular class schedule and will participate in live, Zoom meetings with their teacher(s).

In order to be counted present for class, students must attend live Zoom sessions with their cameras on. If a student is unable to join via Zoom, please contact the teacher as soon as possible.
Teachers will provide screen breaks throughout the day to support student well-being.

Designate a workspace that is organized, quiet, and free from distractions
Monitor your child's assignments and progress.
Maintain open communication with your child's teacher(s).
