Algebra 1

Algebra 1 is the transition from numbers to variables with the endstate being the ability to create and work with variable equations comfortably. The importance resides in the realization that numbers solve a specific instance whereas variables represent rule sets or patterns. This cognitive leap from pre-Algebra to Algebra is not an easy one, but millions of students around the world have done it; millions of students around the world will do it; and you will do it too.

Other reasons for the Algebra 1 rigor: 1. People succeed in many jobs without understanding Algebra, but understanding Algebra makes it easier to succeed. 2. It solidifies a logical, step-by-step thought process. 3. People who understand Algebra recognize when attempts are made to mislead though incorrect logic and/or intentionally erroneous calculations.
