Newport News Public Schools' Building Character Book Club aims to support students' social emotional and literacy development beyond the classroom. Each month, all  K-2 students will bring home a book that focuses on a social emotional topic. Newsletters for each month's book provide activities focused on early literacy skills and social emotional development and are designed to take place during the natural rhythms of the day.
