WELCOME TO FIRST GRADE!
Homework will begin officially on Monday, September 10, 2018. Homework will be given daily and collected daily. All homework assignments should be dated and the child’s name should be placed at the top of each assignment with their number. Their special number can be found by their name on their folder or work book. Please place all homework assignments in their homework folders.
During First Grade your child will learn how to read or enhance their reading. Please have your child read each night for 15 minutes. Once all testing is completed your child will be provided with a skilled leveled book or poem for reading. This will become part of their daily reading homework.
Here are a few tips to help the homework process be successful:
· Have a certain place to do homework each night.
· Encourage and motivate the students to do as much as they can independently.
*If your child seems to be spending too much time each night on homework please contact your classroom teacher.
We will check the agendas each morning for notes or messages, so please help your child understand the importance and responsibility of bringing their Agenda to and from school daily. Parents don’t forget to check and initial the Agenda daily! Agendas are a very important source of communication between school and home.
The Tan communication folders will go home each Friday. This folder will have important handouts, graded papers, or items that are due back to school. Please review and return the folder each Monday.
Breakfast is now in a bag. Students will eat their breakfast in their classroom instead of the cafeteria.
Thank you for reviewing our classroom discipline plans. We need your support in order to have a successful year! If there are any questions or concerns please contact your child’s classroom teacher.
Thank you,
First Grade Team
