Week of October 6, 2025:
The first quarter grading period ends this Thursday, October 9th. Please check your student's PowerSchool for information on their grades.
Picture retake day is October 14th.
Students in grades 9–11 will participate in the PSAT on Wednesday, October 15. The PSAT provides valuable practice for the SAT, which is a required state assessment, and it helps us measure where students are academically. Please encourage your student to get a good night’s rest and eat a healthy breakfast to be prepared for testing day.
Seniors do not report to school on PSAT testing day. They will be out conducting their community service hours. More information will be given to seniors in their Government class about this.
Parent teacher conferences are on October 16tth from 11:00am - 6:15PM. These meetings are an important opportunity for families and teachers to connect about student progress, celebrate successes, and discuss strategies for continued growth. Staying involved in your student’s education helps build strong partnerships between home and school. We encourage all families to attend.
Junior high parents can sign up for a time slot by calling the school at 219-285-2252 or emailing Kat Messersmith kmessersmith@nn.k12.in.us or Ann Bartkiewicz abartkiewicz@nn.k12.in.us. Time slots will be for 15 minutes with the core grade level teachers.
High school parents can arrive between these times to have a meeting with their student's teacher. It will be a first come first serve.
Fall break starts next Thursday, October 16 (Parent-Teacher Conference Day) through Monday, October 20th. Students report back to school on Tuesday, October 21st.
The Mobile Dentist will be at the high school on October 27, 2025. You can register your student at https://www.myschooldentist.com/Default.aspx

Our district has an anonymous tip line. Students and families are encouraged to use the "Say Something Anonymous Tip Line" to report any concerns about safety, including potential drug-related activities. This tool helps empower our school community to play an active role in keeping our environment safe. This reporting system can be located on our district website, texting TIP to 79775, or going to www.saysomething.net.
Should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me, Kathryn Heintz, at kheintz@nn.k12.in.us, or to Assistant Principal Tony Brooks at tbrooks@nn.k12.in.us.
