Week of September 8, 2025:
Attention 9th grade parents, an Ivy Tech flyer was sent home with your student at the beginning of the school year. This flyer included the application for your student to enroll with Ivy Tech, which will allow them to earn free dual credits throughout their high school career that will transfer to any Indiana college. Students will be enrolling with Ivy Tech on Wednesday, 9/10. If the permission slip has not yet been returned, please make sure it is filled out and sent to school with them. Students will also need their application, including their full home address and social security number, to complete the Ivy Tech registration process.
Homecoming is next week. Homecoming week is September 15th-19th. The homecoming dance will be on Saturday, September 20th from 7:00PM - 10:00PM in the NN Cafeteria. Tickets will be on sale the week of September 15th during high school lunches for $15. Only high school students can attend this dance. The theme for Homecoming is Disney.
Students who plan on bringing a guest to the homecoming dance must submit their guest pass forms to the main office by this Wednesday, September 10, 2025. Pass forms are available in Student Services and the main office. A copy of the guest's license, permit, or school ID is needed as well. Late forms will not be accepted.

The Jasper Newton Foundation (JNF) has a brief message:
Dear Parents,
We have an exciting chance to share with the Jasper Newton Foundation how educational grant funding could be used at our school to enrich our students’ learning. Please take 3 minutes to complete the short survey below and help us work together to bring more opportunities to our high school students. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/YN8TRQY
This school year, our school has switched from Chromebooks to iPads. Students are reminded to keep their devices charged each day to be ready for learning.
Cell phones are not to be used during instructional time. Keeping phones put away supports focus and engagement in learning—and it is also required by state law.

During the school year, every Wednesday will be an Early Release day. Students will be dismissed from school at 1:20PM. On September 17th and April 15th students will have a planned eLearning day. This will be in part of professional development for our staff.
Our district has an anonymous tip line. Students and families are encouraged to use the "Say Something Anonymous Tip Line" to report any concerns about safety, including potential drug-related activities. This tool helps empower our school community to play an active role in keeping our environment safe. This reporting system can be located on our district website, texting TIP to 79775, or going to www.saysomething.net.
Should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me, Kathryn Heintz, at kheintz@nn.k12.in.us, or to Assistant Principal Tony Brooks at tbrooks@nn.k12.in.us.

Recently, the 4th graders from the elementary schools participated in the Woods on Wheels event. Thanks to the partnership with the Soil and Water District and the support of our amazing FFA students, the elementary kiddos learned all about trees, forestry, and the important role they play in our environment.
