It was a gloomy afternoon when Mark Jacob and Lily rode there bikes down the old gravel road towards Quarter creek. The trees swayed in the cold wind and the bare branches were cutting the sky like a knife.”Are you sure this is a good idea”Jacob asked, voice shaking a little.
Lily rolled her eyes”Come on, it's just an old cabin, nobody even lives there anymore”.
Mark stayed quiet, gripping his handlebars tightly. His Heart was pounding, but he needed to go so everyone would stop saying he's scared of everything and he's not brave enough to do anything. He was scared because some say someone died in the cabin, others say it was just plain haunted.
As they got closer, the trees thickened, and the sunlight faded. The path turned muddy and their tires made squish sounds as they rolled over crunchy leaves and mud. Finally, they arrived at the cabin and it was weirdly shaped and it was covered in green moss. The windows were cracked and the door hung open just a little.
“I dare you to go in first,”Jacob said, nudging Mark with his elbow.
Mark looked at him trying to look brave”Fine lets all go in together”.
They pushed the old door open and it creaked like in a scary movie .The inside was dark and smelled of something wet and rotten. There was furniture everywhere and there was spider webs covering the walls like curtains.
“This place gives me the creeps,”Lily whispered.
“Shhhh! Did you hear that?” Mark froze there was a thump upstairs.
“Probaly a Ghost” Jacob said grinning.
Mark's heart was racing. If he left now everyone would still make fun of him and most importantly, he wouldn't face his fears but if he stayed maybe he could become braver and less scared of things in life. He ended up choosing the 2nd option.
They then climbed up the stairs slowly, each step creaking louder. Then the last step led to a dark pitch black hallway. Jacob pulled out his phone and turned on the flashlight.
“Im not going down that hallway first,” Jacob said, stuttering a little.
“I will do it” Mark said, shocked that he even said that.
“Actully? This is the first time you have done anything first” said Lily, shocked that Mark would do that.
Then CRASH a loud sound from down the hallway where Mark was the Lily and Jacob ran out the house with Mark still in there. After that Mark came out holding a bird in his hands.
“Guess Im the brave one now”Said mark grinning. After that no one made fun of him again.

The Midnight Walk
One night I was walking to Jack In The Box to get snacks by myself late at night. I then looked behind me because I felt an urge that someone following me.
I decided to walk inside and told myself not to worry, nothing is going to happen.
I then walked up to the cashier and ordered all my snacks. After I got my snacks and paid for everything, I started to walk outside. I started to walk towards the park to eat my snacks. Once I started walking to the park, and I got the feeling of someone following me again I then took a deep breath, knowing nothing was going to happen.
I sat down, eating my fries and looking around, making sure nobody is watching me or if anyone is around me
It’s ok nobody is following me .
Once I had eaten some of my fries, I took out my tacos to eat. I then grabbed some of my fries and ate them with my tacos. After I finished my food, I threw away all the trash, planning to go back home now. I started walking down the sidewalk again, and I then saw the same guy who was at Jack in the box at the end of the sidewalk.
I decided to turn around to go get another way home but then I heard the guy yelling saying “Where I am going”
I replied with "None of your business." The guy started to walk towards me and I decided to tell him to stay away because he was getting closer with every step he took. I then grabbed my phone getting ready to call my friend Amber to see if she was able to ask her mom to pick me up because I didn’t feel safe walking home with this guy following me.
I then took a step back and entered the park again to see if there was anyone there to help me get this man away from me, but once I entered, I saw there was no one, and I knew I was going to get stuck. The guy then entered the park saying he just wanted to talk, but I knew he was lying by with the creepy smile he had on his face. Once I told him to stay away again, he pulled out his phone and called someone. I knew this was a good time for me to run out of the park and get to safety.
I then took a step back and entered the park again to see if there was anyone there to help me get this man away from me, but once I entered, I saw there was no one, and I knew I was going to get stuck. I decided to call my friend Amber to see if she is closer. She then picked up
"Amber. Are you getting closer I'm In the park and there is no way out."
"Evalynn, I’m at the stop sign just wait a little. Just keep running away from him."
I then decided to keep running since Amber kept getting closer. While I kept running, I saw a 7/11 nearby, I ran faster so I can ask the cashier to keep the guy away from me. Once I opened, I asked the cashier to help me then the cashier helped me and stopped the guy, Amber then showed up with her mom and took me home. I got into my room, knowing I got home safely, I then thanked Amber and her mom for picking me up.
