The student Chromebooks are a key component of NMUSD's instructional program. Like a textbook, the Chromebook is a tool that will help your child discover an exciting and enriching learning environment. In addition, students will need to charge their Chromebook at home because the current infrastructure of our schools cannot support charging all of these student devices.
District-owned Chromebooks will be fully supported at school. District cannot provide technical support at home, however we will make available a FAQ for parents with common problems and solutions. During the summer, limited technical support will be provided; for example, IT can swap out broken Chromebooks at the District Office.
The Student Technology Use Agreement (STUA) is an acknowledgement that occurs during registration every year. This is when the parent or guardian acknowledges that their student will use the district’s network, computer systems, cloud services and other technology resources and acknowledges the terms and conditions in the Student Technology Use Agreement. For more information, click here to access the agreements: Student Technology Use Agreement (English) Student Technology Use Agreement (Spanish)

At school, Internet on 1-1 Chromebooks is filtered the same way as the other District computers. Basic web filtering is also provided at home; for additional information, please speak with your child's principal. Also, it is up to the parents to decide if additional web filtering is provided at home and to which extent. Parents have the option of using the GoGuardian Parent App to place additional restrictions on the NMUSD Chromebook.
You can use the app on either an iOS or Android device. Follow step-by-step directions here.
You can check browsing history a couple of different ways. You can press CTRL-Y to access the history or click the three dots in the upper right hand corner of the Chrome window and go down to "History" and then choose "History" again.

Over the past several years, information provided by principals and parent surveys suggests that majority of our students have Internet access at home. If your family does not have Internet access at home, please speak with the principal of your child's school about the availability of hotspots for families to see if you qualify. Families without Internet also have the option of signing up with https://www.everyoneon.org/. We have created an interactive Google map with free wifi locations around the Newport-Mesa community. Please see our Support page for both the interactive Google map and more information about everyoneon.org.

Parents are responsible for the full replacement cost of any lost Chromebook and the reparation equal to the current replacement cost of the materials of a damaged Chromebook.
