Welcome!
I'm Mrs. Norquist, one of the TK/K teachers at Lincoln Elementary. In Room 1, we strive to meet all students where they are and challenge each child to grow socially, emotionally and academically throughout the year. Kindergarten is a year to learn good study habits and a love for learning. It is a year of tremendous socialization which can be challenging and also incredibly rewarding. Through all of this, we teach the whole child with a balance of arts, academics, and character building. Children learn to be confident, independent, and kind with explicit social-emotional instruction and mindfulness training combined with differentiated academic instruction. We welcome you to the Lincoln family where "Kindness is a Lincoln thing!"
About Mrs. Norquist...
I have taught grades TK-4th at Lincoln for 25 years. I received my BA from UCI in Social Ecology and then my Masters in Education from Pepperdine. Aside from teaching the students in my classroom, I also mentor new teachers in their first or second year of teaching which I find incredibly rewarding.
My husband and I have two daughters, ages 16 and 19. In my free time, we enjoy hiking and going to the beach. We love family trips to Lake Tahoe, Mammoth and Utah to ski in the winter and enjoy nature in the summer. I am a huge advocate of mental health and work to give my students a great foundation in social-emotional awareness.
