Adonis F. R. Leal
Adonis F. R. Leal received the B.S., M.S, and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering (Electronics and Power Systems) from the Federal University of Para (UFPA), Belem, Brazil in 2013, 2014, and 2018 respectively. From 2016 to 2017, he was a Visiting Research Scholar with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Florida, Gainesville, FL, USA. From 2018 to 2022, he was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Biomedical Engineering at the UFPA, Belem, Brazil. From 2019 to 2022, he was the head of the Lightning Research Laboratory (LRL) and Electronic Systems Laboratory (ESL) at UFPA. He has already mentored 3 master's theses and one Ph.D. dissertation in the Electrical Engineering graduate program at UFPA. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at New Mexico Tech, Socorro, NM, USA. He is also a member of the Langmuir Lab at NMT. His research interests span from physics to electrical engineering, including the development of embedded systems, lightning protection for renewable energy systems, lightning signal processing including data mining and artificial intelligence, lightning activity over the Amazon region, lightning and fires, and remote sensing.
