Internship Roles

Here you will find descriptions of roles for internship jobs at NM. These internships help maintain the band program and improve it for future years. Contact Mr. Harris if you are interested in taking on one of these roles.

Music Librarian

"This year I have had the great opportunity as working as an intern for Mr. Harris as the music librarian. I have enjoyed being able to get to know our music in a more in depth manner rather than just playing it and waiting for another rotation of music. I have been able to see the different variety of music that composers will write and the different genres. This job is important in keeping our music organized and maintained. I have worked on making two new spreadsheets for our cabinets. One for the wind symphony and another for the jazz band. I have completed putting in the names of the composers and pieces for just the wind symphony and alphabetizing them by composer. That is one thing that will need to be maintained and continued on into the jazz cabinet and the jazz spreadsheet. Another tip is getting more folders for the broken folders that once held music that way pieces aren't just loose around the cabinet. All of this can be applied in other aspects of learning and or work environments. At the end of the day this is great way to help the band program and learn more about music and organization." - Music Librarian, 2021
