NEW MEXICO BLACK LEADERSHIP COUNCIL PRESENTS:
"Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced."
-James Baldwin
New Mexico Black Leadership Council is an Albuquerque based 501(c)(3) non-profit working to foster sustainable leadership, create inclusive opportunities, develop multicultural capacity, and cultivate progressive partnerships that support Black and African-American communities.
More than a concept, Cultural Humility is a communal reflection to analyze the root causes of suffering and create a broader, more inclusive view of the world. Originally developed by Doctors Melanie Tervalon and Jann Murray-Garcia (1998) to address health disparities and institutional inequities in medicine.
How people think about their abilities and talents greatly influences how they learn and grow. Human flourishing seems to correspond intimately with a person’s mindset.
Implicit bias exists when people unconsciously hold attitudes toward others or associate stereotypes with them.
