ALEKs

Overview

ALEKs is broken down into Objectives, which follow each chapter of our book. Students must achieve at least 80% mastery in a given Objective in order to move on to the next one.

Each topic completed in your students ALEKs pie is tied to an Indiana State Standard for 6th grade Math. Certain topics cannot be unlocked until students complete the prerequisite topic.

We have daily ALEKs work time because it does require internet. If internet is an issue, students must plan ahead and stay for bonus in order to have additional work time!

We will work on ALEKs for at least 15 minutes daily. Students will be working on:

    1. Pie Progress -- Students will work on topics in their most current objective.
    2. Friday Quiz -- Bi-weekly spiral review quiz in ALEKs.
        • Friday Quizzes will open every other Friday at 7AM with the majority of them have a due date of the following Sunday at 11:59PM. [There are a few exceptions due to altered weeks of holidays, snow/make up days and/or finals.]
        • Students will be able to retake this assignment up to 5 times.
          • A worked example will be included in each problem of the quiz. It will show them how to do the same type of problem, but with different numbers.
        • Students will only retake questions missed in the quiz.
        • Their best score will be recorded.
    3. Redo Assignment(s)
        • Students receiving a failing grade on any ALEKs assignment will be required to redo this assignment during Trimester 1.
          • During Trimester 2, students will be given a redo assignment, but it is up to him/her to complete this assignment for a better grade.
          • During Trimester 3, students may redo an assignment upon request.
        • Students will be sent a duplicate of that specific assignment.
        • Students will have up to 5 retakes with worked examples.
        • The best score (from original or redo) will be recorded.
    4. Quick Tables
        • Quick tables are math fact practice.
        • Student may practice any operation when working in quick tables.
