The Chaulkboard

Check this page for news about what's going on in Ms. Chaulk's class and the work they need to be keeping on top of. All course material will be posted in our Google Classrooms for each subject.

I've created a closed Facebook Group for keeping in touch with my students' parents. Look for the group "Ms. Chaulk's Class 2021-2022" and request to join it. There will be a couple of questions there to answer and membership requests must be approved before you can join. To protect privacy, I will only accept requests from parents of my students and caregivers for whom the parents have given me permission.

Upcoming tests, quizzes, and assignments...

Check the Google Classrooms to keep on top of the work you've missed or didn't get finished in class. Work that was supposed to be finished during class time isn't listed here. I do update the Streams in the Google Classrooms after every class with what we accomplished during that class.

Announcements and things we've been talking about...

March 14 - 7C has not submitted any designs for our Ukrainian fundraiser. I told them at the end of the day that they have until tonight to email me something. We vote in the morning.

March 10 - The deadline for designs for our Ukraine fundraiser is now Sunday night. I'll put the screenshots together in a slideshow and we'll vote on Monday

March 9 - The Grade 7's have been challenged to design something in Tinkercad that we can 3D print and sell to raise money to help people affected by war in Ukraine. This is completely voluntary. The deadline for designs was today. I would like to get them to vote on one tomorrow. If you have designed something, please take a screenshot and email it to me asap. You can find my email in our Classrooms. I look forward to seeing what you've come up with!

March 3 - Please make sure your student plugs in their Chromebook EVERY NIGHT when they go to bed. There is absolutely no reason why a student should have to charge their Chromebook throughout the school day.

February 11 - Parents, we've been struggling with our novel study. Students tell me they have been reading the chapters, but they can't remember anything about it the next morning. They need your help. Could you ask them to tell you what happened in the chapter they've been asked to read right after they read it? Maybe by talking about it right away more of it will stick long enough for them to talk about it the next morning. Thanks in advance!

December 8 - We will be constructing thermometers in science on Monday, December 13. Each student will need a clear, narrow-necked, glass bottle for this activity.

December 7 - Getting Christmas pictures taken tomorrow? DON'T WEAR GREEN! Pictures are being taken in front of the green screen and I wouldn't want parts of you to be invisible!

November 2 - I'm planning to do some print-making with the Grade 7's in Art before Christmas. To do this, we need some styrofoam trays, like the ones meat or cookies come on. If you could collect some, wash them, and send them in, it would be greatly appreciated!

Scholastic Book Orders

Scholastic Book Orders are online now, too! I do all my book orders online now, so the best way to submit your order is to go online (https://classroomessentials.scholastic.ca/en/home) and use my class code - RC208107. There are a lot more books available online than are in the flyer. You can use your credit card to pay and my class still earns rewards!

You can still do it the old way too, by making your selections on the flyer and sending in cash. I will add it to our online order and use my credit card to pay for it.
