The intent of Unit 4 is to explore changes in Newfoundland and Labrador since 1972, and consider how future decades may unfold.
Unit 4 revisits themes introduced at the beginning of the course. In particular, students should now be in a position to consider, in some depth, issues that confront Newfoundland and Labrador today from varied perspectives. Assuming that students have integrated examination of contemporary issues throughout the course, the intent here is that students are now afforded the opportunity to reflect deeply on Newfoundland and Labrador’s culture, heritage and identity as a whole. Ideally students will take from their study knowledge and insight that will enable them to contribute as active citizens in their communities, working as many of their forebears did to improve the way of life for the people of “this place”.
