At the end of this lesson, you will be able to set the Class Stream to the appropriate level of student responsibility.
The Stream is the social hub of your classroom. It is up to the teachers of the classroom to decide what access they would like students to have on the Stream. This will vary depending on your learning context and the responsibility of your students.
You can customize these settings by clicking on the gear in the top right corner.
Then, scroll down to General Settings. You will see some a drop-down menu for Stream. There are three options:
Students can post and comment - This option means students will be able to create new posts on the Stream as well as comment on posts made by teachers or other students.
Students can only comment - This option will allow students to only comment on posts made by teachers but they will not be able to create posts.
Only teachers can post or comment - This is the most restrictive option. Students will not be able to post or comment on anything on the Stream; they will only be able to view teacher posts.
PLEASE NOTE: Regardless of which setting you choose, it is a good idea to have a discussion with your students about the norms of your digital classroom. Before allowing them to post or comment, it is advisable to discuss what would be appropriate to post in an online classroom.
Now, use the steps you have learned to customize student Stream Responsibility in your Class settings.
