At the end of this lesson, you will be able to generate a Class Meet link and manage the Meet link settings.
When a Google Classroom is created, you will see a "Generate link" button on the left hand side of the Stream page. Click here to create a unique Meet Link for your Classroom. Once the Meet link has been activated by the teacher, students will be able to access it on the Stream of their Google Classroom.
The recommended method for joining a Google Meet session with your students is by using the Meet link integrated in your Google Classroom. This is a special link that does not allow students to join before you or rejoin after without a teacher being present in the Meet.
Settings for the Class Meet can be managed from within Classroom. The Meet link can be made visible on the left of the Stream page of your Classroom for student access.
It is important to note that Quick Access is turned off by default, meaning only students on the Classroom roster will have automatic access to the Meet (once the teacher is present). Those not on the Classroom roster will have to ask to join and be admitted by the Classroom teacher.
If a co-teacher does not have Host privileges in a Classroom Meet, try resetting the Meet link.
The best practice when finishing a Google Meet with students is for the teacher presses on "End Call" to ensure that the call has been terminated for all participants and no one can stay in the meeting space.
Now, use the steps you have learned to generate your Class Meet Link in your Classroom and make it visible for students. Remember, they won't be able to join a Meet without a teacher present!
