Kids Help Phone

Kids Help Phone offers free telephone and texting support to children and youth, 24/7 in French and English. Youth can be anonymous and will receive professional counselling, information and referrals.

Doorways Mental Health Walk-in Clinic (12year+)

Doorways is mental health and addictions counselling services ‘one session at a time’. Walk-in counselling services are available without an appointment or referral.

In St. John’s, walk-in, virtual or telephone single sessions counselling sessions are available Monday to Friday at the Doorways Clinic located at Building 532 Pleasantville or by calling 752-4903. Clients may also call 752-4903 to arrange a virtual, telephone or in person session at the mental health and addictions location nearest you.


Mental Health Crisis Line

The Mental Health Crisis Line is a free, confidential service for individuals, family and friends. The crisis line is province-wide, 24 hours a day.

Hope Program: Healthy Opportunities for people with eating disorders (15+)

The Bridges Program (Ages 13-18)

The Bridges Program works collaboratively with youth, and their families, to build awareness, skills and the understanding needed to address mental health challenges.

What they do:

  • Focused, short-term individual psychotherapy

  • Family therapy

  • Skill building groups

  • Psychiatric consultation

Admission to this program is coordinated through Child and Adolescent Central Intake.

CHILDREN/ADOLESCENT CENTRAL INTAKE MENTAL HEALTH & ADDICTIONS – EASTERN AVALON

Families and youth can call the Central Intake line directly for information, self-referral, and assessment. Referrals are screened and assessed over the telephone or in person by an Intake Coordinator and then assigned to the most appropriate service. Programs covered by Child Central Intake include Janeway Family Centre, Bridges, Janeway Psychiatry, Community Mental Health Counselling and Adolescent Addictions (Rowan Centre)
