My Great Grandmother’s present

This old wooden statue belonged to my mom’s grandmother (my great-grandmother.) It’s approximately 70 years old from the 1950s. It was given to my great-grandmother from my grandmother, who gifted it as a Mother’s Day present. My great-grandmother cherished it heavily, as my grandmother was her firstborn, and this was the first gift she received from a mature daughter.

The statue is made of very light wood, not even a pound in weight, and standing around 5 inches in height. It’s engraved with a thoughtful message which says, “Mom, no one can fill your shoes.” It meant very much to my great-grandmother, and my grandmother even stated that she would keep it on her bedside table and look at it often and smile.

It’s very important to my family, as this object is one of the last things we have from my great-grandmother, as she sadly passed away in 2004.

Le cadeau de mon arrière-grand-mère

Cette vieille statue en bois appartenait à la grand-mère de ma mère (mon arrière-grand-mère). Il a environ 70 ans à partir des années 1950. Il a été offert à mon arrière-grand-mère par ma grand-mère, qui l’a offert comme cadeau de fête des mères. Mon arrière-grand-mère l'a chéri beaucoup, car ma grand-mère était son premier-né, et c'était le premier cadeau qu'elle ait reçu d'une jeune fille

La statue est faite de bois très léger, ne pèse même pas une livre et mesure environ 5 pouces de hauteur. Il est gravé d'un message réfléchi qui dit: "Maman, personne ne peut remplir tes chaussures." Cela signifiait beaucoup pour mon arrière-grand-mère et ma grand-mère a même déclaré qu'elle le garderait sur sa table de chevet, la regarderait souvent et sourirait.

C’est très important pour ma famille, car cet objet est l’une des dernières choses que nous avons de mon arrière-grand-mère, car elle est malheureusement décédée en 2004.
