Curriculum Overview:
Skilled Trades 1201 is an introduction to the designated trades in this province and the inter-provincial Red Seal trades. It looks briefly at the structure of the trades, including the formal schooling aspect of common core courses, and trade specific courses. A significant part of the course focuses on 6 construction related trades: Carpentry, Residential Electrician, Plumber, Lather, Painter-Decorator, and Mason.
Students examine each trade and develop rudimentary knowledge and skills. Construction projects that span all 6 trades serve to emulate some aspects of on-the-job experiences.
